We offer the following unique opportunities for all of our private students:
End of Year Recording Session
At the end of the school year, students will have an opportunity to record 2 of their favorite pieces from the year. Parents will receive a copy of this recording and additional copies can be purchased. These recordings will also be compiled into a repertoire portfolio to be given each student upon the end of their time at ACO Music Studio.
Quarterly Assessments
Each student will be assessed and evaluated every quarter. ACO Music Studio is committed to giving every student the very best musical education possible. These quarterly assessments will include theory, ear training, sight-reading, rhythmic recognition and dictation and playing a piece by memory. These assessments will allow us to give extra attention to any areas that may need it.
Theory Day
Twice a year, students will meet in a group, instead of their private lesson, (according to instrument and level) and receive a 30-45 minute theory lesson. The purpose of this is to give the special attention necessary to the area of Theory. Theory is the foundation of music and these classes will provide the extra attention needed for students to fully understand Theory.
MMTA
Every student will go through the Minnesota Music Teacher’s Association (MMTA) theory curriculum. There are opportunities to take tests for each level. Prizes and certificates are given by the state of Minnesota. The test is not required, however, but the curriculum is an incredible way to have a better understanding of theory.
Festival
Festival is a performance opportunity in February for students to perform before and be critiqued by an accomplished musical judge. Students are given a score of 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1. After a score of 5 three years in a row, the student receives a gold cup. Festival is not required, but a great opportunity!
